Privacy mode
Turn on privacy mode before you share a screen and Cleat hides file paths, clipboard contents and note titles, while leaving the palette usable.
A launcher knows an uncomfortable amount about you: what you copied, what your folders are called, what your notes are about. Privacy mode hides the revealing half of that while leaving the half you need to work.
Turn it on from the palette, from Settings › Extras, or with cleat://privacy.
What changes
| Where | Normally | In privacy mode |
|---|---|---|
| Clipboard history | The copied text as the row title | Dots, sized to the original |
| File results | The full folder path | The word “File” |
| Bookmarks | Folder and host | The browser name only |
| Copied files | The full path | The file name alone |
Titles of apps, commands and settings are untouched, because a list of dots you cannot read is not a launcher.
Reporting an issue
Report an Issue… never attaches a picture of a window or a log, whether privacy mode is on or off, so nothing on this list goes with a report. See Privacy and data.
What it is not
This is a presentation aid, not a security control. Anyone who can use your Mac can turn it off, and it does not encrypt anything. For that, the answer is what Cleat stores and where, which is a short list of files you can delete.
